Mexico – May 2026

April 2026

It was a pleasure to leave an unusually cold spring in Boston to spend a week in Mexico City, which had plenty of sunshine, even though it is the rainy season.  Our cousins Mal and Selena joined us, and we had great fun showing them our favorite places, from the folk art display at the Palacio de Iturbide to the fabulous coffee at Café Popular. Our first dinner was to introduce them to the amazing mole at El Cardenal.

We went back to Teotihuacan, and this time explored some buildings outside the main ruins, which were totally empty of tourists.  In one sight, the ticket taker turned out to be extremely knowledgeable about the well-preserved murals in a former military complex, and we shared his excitement as he rolled back curtains and pointed out details that we otherwise might have missed.

We went back to see the incredible Diego Rivera murals in the Secretariat of Education, now called El Museo de Murales, and took many strolls through the historic district. Selena and Susan got haircuts together, always fun in a new country.  The hairdresser created a whole new straight-hair look for each of us, which lasted until we got caught in the rain.
